UPDATE
The Holidays are just around the corner and we just finished another successful distribution in October. We had great volunteers and look forward to November 20th as our Pre-Thanksgiving distribution. This day is also the opening day of duck season, a very special day to me but Melanie says I must prevail and have a distribution that day so everyone can be sure to have a Thanksgiving meal. I have been blessed with many days to hunt and the distribution is much more important---just have to remind Melanie as she prompted me about this when we first started!!!
Donations have been slow I think due to the poor economy; however we are able to keep going.
On a real positive note Reverend Dubois is now home, doing well and planning to return to the food bank this month!!!!
We are approaching our third anniversary in December and we would like to recognize Ray Hugueley, a deacon from First Baptist Church as he is the only volunteer to NEVER miss a distribution. Ray started out at the beginning helping us prepare the building for service and then proceeded to be a dedicated volunteer always heading up our number three bag preparation. Everyone please give Ray a big thanks for his dedication.
God Bless you all and please keep the Hughes Christian Outreach Ministries in your prayers and ask God to KEEP blessing us!
Hope to see you all on the 23rd,
Tal Goldsby

Special Note from the HCOM
We recently got a large food donation from Southland and a new refrigerator/freezer from the Northeast Arkansas Food Bank, our backbone for being able to survive by supplying us discounted food. Also County Mayor Gary Hughes helped us obtain a continuation of funding from FEMA, which happens twice a year.
Our expenses remain relatively high mainly due to our large [500 to 600 dollar] monthly electrical bills.
We continue to be blessed with wonderful volunteers at the monthly distributions and when we get large deliveries of food or have special needs around the building or for grant writing. It is obvious that God has touched many hearts!!!!
Please pray for Ruberta Love and Rev. Willie Dubois as they both have some major health issues and have both been very faithful to our efforts.
Our next distribution is October 23, 2010 and we would love to invite any and all to come help us serve the Lord.
God Bless You All

Christmas Toy Handout
As the volunteers from the food distribution were cleaning up , a new group of helpers came
to help with the toy shop. A BIG thanks goes out to Lucille, Connie,
Tammi, Lekeshia, Sherri, Pat, and Shirley for transforming the the food bank into a
wonderland of toys in only thirty minutes! It was a Christmas wonderland. God was most certainly in the building.
The doors opened at 1:00 for the sixty-three families that had pre-registered. As folks selected a gift for one child it was wrapped while they continued to search for the right toy to suit their other kids.
We thank Judge Hughes and Annie for working to stock our shelves with tons of wonderful toys. We even had enough toys that we could service an additional twenty-six families before the toy shop had to close.
All in all, 89 families received wrapped presents for every child in their house. We hope this lightened the burden on these struggling families, but more importantly we hope it created a ton of smiles and joy on Christmas morning. We also hope, that these gifts will somehow someday lead these precious children to the Lord
None of this would be possible without the God putting an unstoppable spirit in all of the volunteers.
